During a new interview, Ben Stiller revealed that he was by his dad, Jerry’s side when he passed away. Furthermore, he opened up about his final days and the struggles he went through.

Ben also paid tribute to Jerry’s successful career.

Furthermore, on a personal, family level, he described him as ‘nurturing’ and ‘overprotective.’

At the same time, the actor son mentioned that his dad was in high spirits even as his death was approaching and continued to be himself.

Ben and his sibling, Amy, were apparently both by their dad’s side during his last days on Earth.

He shared in an interview for The New Yorker, that Jerry was as funny as ever ‘until the end.’

‘My sister and I were able to be with him [before he died]. And because he did not have a coronavirus related illness, and had been ailing for a while, we could to be with him, which I am very grateful for. He was just slowing down and was dealing with a lot of issues. And so the last week or 2 were tougher for him,’ the Zoolander actor shared with the publication.

‘But he went peacefully and had a sense of humor until the end. I hesitate to call it that He was just funny, and was always himself. He was almost 93 and I think his body was at that point where it was time,’ he went on to mention.

Indeed, on May 11, Ben shared the sad news in a tweet, mentioning that Jerry passed away of ‘natural causes.’

The post reads: ‘I’m sad to say that my father passed away from natural causes. He was a wonderful dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.’

During the same interview, Ben also mentioned that his dad never expected him to be funny growing up but simply nurtured his natural talents.
